Did Someone Say FREE Training?

FLG has begun a series of free training clinics and one may be coming soon to a town near you. Check it out! If you’re a student in grades 2-8 and you’ve never experienced FLG’s lacrosse methodology, here’s your chance! These training sessions are free. Even if you’ve participated in other FLG events, you’re invited to be part of the action. Just register and come on down. There’s absolutely no cost. Experience what FLG (For the Love of the Game) is all about.

What will you experience?

You’ll participate in a series of small area competitive games and station work that put FLG methodology into play. You’ll also receive individual training and tips from FLG coaches and assistants. Our drills give each player plenty of practice with an abundance of touches and repetitions. During the competitive action, you’ll have the opportunity to work on your skills, shooting, distribution, vision, transition play, defense and more.

Why free training?

We’re hitting the road with free clinics that bring FLG training methods to more of Long Island’s young lacrosse players. Improve your game while participating in practice drills, games and competitions and learn firsthand from our experienced coaches and volunteers.

We make it easy.

With ten convenient locations, you’ll find a free clinic in a town near you. Or, join us more than once. Come to as many FLG free trainings in Nassau and Suffolk as you can reach. It’s that simple. For our full calendar of dates and locations click here. Register below and reserve your place today!

You’ll also have a chance to earn fun prizes and take home super giveaways! And, yes, it’s all free!

Fight or Flight

You’re not feeling like yourself, you’re groggy, you’re tired, you’re nauseous. You have a lacrosse tournament tomorrow morning. Your team has prepared for this tournament for months. Countless practices, individual training sessions, and chalk talks went into getting the team ready for competition.

You’re not feeling yourself, so how do you choose to approach this big event?

Do you shut everything down, stay home, lay low, become a victim to the resistance?

Or, do you show up, do what you can, rise above the ill feelings, adapt, adjust, and fight the resistance?

You as a parent have a choice what to tell your child when their in this position. You as a player have a choice how you can respond to adversity.

At FLG, we want players that have that fight. Not to say that’s right or tell you what’s wrong, it’s just what we want in our Program.

How a Studlete Prepares for Finals

Preparing for Finals

  • Find people outside of your friend group to study with. You will have a tendency to be more focused if you study with a group of classmates, as opposed to a group of friends.
  • Use index/flash cards and rewrite your notes to study. eFlash cards are a great way to save paper! Whatever works though. Repetitions are the key to memorizing. Just like taking more shots, GB’s, or reps on the field.
  • Get yourself on a proper sleep schedule. No need to study all hours of the night. Sleep is arguably more important than anything you can do during finals time.
  • Stay away from energy drinks. While Red bull may give you wings for a brief period of time, before you know it you’ll be crashing and quenching for more!
  • Eat a solid breakfast. Mix it up with some fruit, protein, and nutrients. Don’t over eat, but eat well.
  • Come prepared – extra writing utensils, extra batteries for calculators, etc.
  • Chew the SAME gum while studying that you chew while you’re taking the test (if possible) This will allow you to get that consistency and remember your material better on game-day (test-day, sorry!) ; )
  • Don’t second guess yourself! You’ve studied, you’ve worked hard, you’re prepared, now go with your gut!
  • Don’t compare yourself to others. Some move fast, others slow, stay the road, and up you will go. (Hope you liked our jingle)
