Inaugural Joseph Visone Award

Every Tuesday morning, FLG Lacrosse launches an email blast highlighting several FLG studletes who are featured online. Typically, FLG studletes are featured in the news for their outstanding play on the field. This week, we would like to highlight one special player from our program who was in the news for being an outstanding person.

Ryan Kelly, who is a senior midfielder/attackman for Sayville High School, is a quality lacrosse player and student. He has verbally committed to play college lacrosse at Stevens Tech. This past year at the annual Sayville Football Varsity Awards dinner, Ryan was honored with an award for his character, leadership, and selflessness.

Last summer, going into the 2014/2015 High School Football season, the Sayville community lost Joseph Visone after a battle with Brain Cancer. Joseph was a senior student-athlete at Sayville High School and a member of the Sayville High School Football team. Joseph was a well-liked, selfless, and hard working young man. After the 2014/2015 Football season, the Sayville High School Head Football Coach said, “we would like to honor a player on our team with the first ever Joseph Visone Award.” In his speech, Coach Haas said, “I couldn’t think of a better candidate for this award than Ryan Kelly.”

FLG is very proud to say Ryan played for the FLG Program! We are very proud of him for being recognized for this award. It is one tremendous honor!
