String King Game of the Week – Patriots in Secatogue County

Week 2, LILJ String King Game of the Week will feature the Ward Melville Patriots traveling into Secatogue County in search of Life, Liberty and Pursuit of a Win. Can the Marauders defend their home turf against the perennial power?

Built on Excellence, Ward Melville lacrosse success goes back to the early beginnings of organized lacrosse here on Long Island. However Head Coach Jay Negus has his boys working hard, instilling that excellence is not given but earned. The Patriots constitution is focused around the formula “E + R = O,” elaborated to read Events plus Response equals Outcome. The patriots pride themselves of working has hard as they can for 60 minutes, never taking a play off. Winning in thrilling fashion, sneaking by Sachem East in their opener, the Patriots are in full attack mode, securing the W in their first 3 contests.

Leading the Attack for the Patriots in Maryland Commit Dylan Pallonetti. A Ray Enners Watch List Player, Pallonetti is a lefty stinger, having the ability to put up big numbers in tight games and imporant situations. He currently has 13 points on the year. With 32 saves on the year, Junior Tender Collin Krieg is showing shooters that they must change their planes and utilize some trickery if they want to get the ball over the goal line. The future Tarheel is keeping is tight in games, giving his offense more opportunities. 

Matching the intensity, Bay Shore will be ready to defend their shores against the Patriots. Led by a lethal trio, Will Button (Stony Brook), Rob Saragga and Ryan Scully. Combining for 37 points in 4 games, these guys are known to generate offense. The marauders also have experience in the net with Jay Tingue, who has recorded 45 stops on the year.

Currently 3-1, Bay Shore is hungry, looking to steal another win for the year. LILJ preseason ranked #9 this is team has talent, there’s no doubt about it. However lacking experience they have never made it past the quarter finals in program history. Nonetheless, it is early in the season and taking down a perennial power like Ward Melville will show that they have the capabilities to play late into May.
