Huntington Analysis
Huntington is well coached, discipline, and have some young talent. Newly appointed head coach, Beth Vogelsang has this team playing patiently on the offensive end and sound, fundamental defense. Super sophomore, Jordan Forte really impressed today. She finished with a couple goals, an assist, and multiple draw controls. Forte was all over the field, contributing equally on both ends. Abby Maichin had an #SCTOP10 goal stepping down from the 8 with a low to high rip top corner. Video on our @FLGLAX story. A big reason for Huntington’s success was thanks to junior goalie, Maya Santa Maria. Maya had 7+ saves in the first half alone. She’s a tremendous stopper with great poise in cage. Marissa Stafford impressed as well. Her versatility from the midfield gives the Devils a chance to run with the best of them. Overall, Huntington almost stole a W from a quality Farmingdale team. They are in good hands in the years to come and expect his young team to only get better.
Farmingdale Analysis.
Farmingdale plays a gritty style of play. They are scrappy on ground balls, aggressive on the defensive end, and really look for the best possible shot on the offensive end. The Dalers have a really nice attack unit. Kelly Bergersen, Riley D’Andrea, and Amanda Stoll work really well together. Berg and D’Andrea connected for the game winner with about 3 minutes left on the clock. Bergersen had a tremendous goal in the first half. After attacking the goal from outside the eight, she got doubled and released a shovel shot for a score. Stoll is great in the riding game and is cool under pressure. Erin Shimborske is Farmingdale’s do it all midfielder. She logged a ton of minutes for this gritty Daler team. Reilly Agres had a tremendous second half, sparking the team to come back after being down as many as four goals. If Farmingdale can secure more possessions on the circle, and execute on the offensive end, they could make a late season playoff push in Nassau Class A.
