Caroline Debellis @carolinedebellis & Isabelle Vitale @isabellevitale were the 1 -> 2 punch that led Cold Spring Harbor towards victory today against a tough Harborfields squad.
#1 & #2 put on a show at Jim Amen Field as Debellis displayed her usual slickness around the crease by moving snivley (sneaky and lively) off-ball and netting a game high, 5 goals. She even cashed in on a beautiful BTB after scooping up a GB around the goal line extended. Her bestie Vitale hooked it up all game. Vitale dropped SIX! dimes 👛 on the day, finishing with two goals, including one absolute stinger 🐝 top left. The final score at Cold Spring Harbor was 10-5.
Cold Spring Harbor Analysis
With the absence of stars Grace Taukus and Nicole Mormile, Cold Spring Harbor turned to some of their other talent of reinforcements. Fortunately for the Seahawks, this team is deep. Isabelle Vitale stepped up immediately. In the first half alone, Vitale was involved in 5 of Cold Spring’s 8 goals. It was apparent Vitale was looking for her girl Caroline Debellis, as CSH meticulously picked apart Harborfields backer-zone. Senior, Caroline Walter came out of the gates quickly, scoring 2 early goals. Walter’s experience and senior leadership helped propel CSH to a quality victory. Unsung hero as usual had to be draw-specialist and defender Sofia Taglich. Tags dominated the circle and did a great job on the defensive half of the field.
Harborfields Analysis
Harborfields is a young all-around. Second year Head Coach, Jess Volpe has this young team bought in. They leave everything they have on the field. The effort is apparent, the heart is evident, the only thing missing is a few more pieces that will give Harborfields the opportunity to execute more frequently in the middle of the field and on the offensive end. Senior defender, Caitlin Tucker did a nice job commanding the defense. The midfield unit ran miles in today’s contest. It took a little bit for Harborfield’s Haylee Simkins to get going. She scored two nice goals that sparked a four goal run for the Tornadoes in the second half. Unfortunately, their run got cut short, as CSH scored the last two goals of the game allowing them to hold onto the lead. Emma Flynn did some really nice things from the midfield. Emma is shockingly a Freshman. She plays fast, with great control, and isn’t scared of taking it to the cage. She’s one to watch in the years to come.
Overall, it’s Cold Springs time. This year could be as successful as last. Two early season injuries could be a blessing in disguise, as the Seahawks are getting a chance to find out which young guns can step-up in big moments and make things happen.
