Our first official episode will bring in three of America’s top Head Coaches from the Women’s College game to discuss recruiting. This episode is open to anyone! Division I Representative: Remington Steele, Bucknell University Head Coach
Remington Steele is a fast-rising coach in the collegiate and international ranks. Steele was announced the Head Coach of Bucknell Women’s Lacrosse in August of 2017. Previously, Steele was the first assistant at Furman, where he served as defensive coordinator, goalies coach, and recruiting coordinator for a Paladins team that finished 12-7 in just its third season as a varsity program. From 2013-15, Steele was the head coach of New Zealand’s U19 National Team.
Steele led the team to a fifth-place finish at the 2015 FIL U19 World Cup, which is the highest finish by a New Zealand team at an international competition. During that tenure he received the FIL Heart of Lacrosse Award.
Division II Representative: Dawn Sachs, Mercy College Head Coach
Dawn Sachs is currently the Assistant Athletic Director for Operations, Senior Woman Administrator and head women’s lacrosse coach (entering seventh season). In addition, she acts as the Chief Academic Officer of the athletic department. In 2017, Sachs led the Mavericks to a school-record 16 wins and their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Mercy qualified for the ECC Tournament for the second straight year and won their first-ever playoff game over NYIT to advance to the ECC Championship Game for the first time in program history.
During that time Sachs coached the first two All-Americans in program history in sophomores Hunter Isnardi and Talia Stagnitta.
Division III Representative: Kim Williams, Wesleyan College Head Coach
Kim Williams enters her fourth season at the helm of the women’s lacrosse program. Williams took over a program that was coming off eight consecutive losing seasons and just four conference wins from 2010-2015. In her first season, Wesleyan finished 5-9 overall and 2-8 in the NESCAC–the two conference wins were the most in seven years. One year later, Williams led the Cardinals to their best season in program history as Wesleyan set program records in overall wins (11) and NESCAC victories (7) as they finished 11-6 and 7-3. Additionally, the Cardinals ranked in the top-20 in the country for the majority of the season, qualified for the NESCAC Tournament for the first time in eight years, and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships for the first time ever.
Williams was named the 2017 NESCAC Coach of the Year and the 2017 IWLCA Berkshire Region Coach of the Year for her efforts in turning the program around.
